Status on connection problem throughout the last 24 hours

Oliver 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 16

As many of you have noticed we had some major connectivity issues throughout the last 24 hours. I've desperately searched for the source of the problem only to find out that our ISP had introduced updates to its Firewall and DDos detection configuration that aggressively prevented network traffic that it deemed problematic. This resulted in a lot of false-positives because the new rules did not take into account the traffic pattern exhibited by mining operations such as ours. I've instructed the ISP to opt-out our infrastructure from this "enhanced" protection. Needless to say I'm just as pissed about this as you are.

Update: All problems have been resolved as of this morning and everything's running smooth. Website performance has increased significantly due to performance tuning.

concerned about pool xmr finding blocks - not newb

Mad_Scientist_565 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 4

I scoped this site a little while back, and the XMR hash rate was under 40kh/s.  its now over 100 with the shutdown of another pool.  Here's the thing. this pool found a block on average once a month with that low hash rate. A pool with 1Mh finds a block roughly every day, so by that token a small pool with 1 tenth the hash power should find a block every 10 days.  I've been here a week, and before that it said last block was found a month ago.  so you have a months worth of hashing at 20-50kh/s plus the last few days of 100kk/s+.    what is the current effort % on that. because it seems like we should be over 500%.  (I've never gone above 420% without finding a block, but that's just me) also, does this site report orphans?  (also they found 5 blocks, all 2 months ago, whats up with that. was there alot of hashing power here at one time?)

Clarification on the missing Monacoin Blocks throughout the day

Oliver 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 3

As already discussed in the other thread related to this, the Monacoin pool was supposed to find a lot more blocks over the day than it did given its hashrate. As a matter of fact the pool did find blocks, 10 to be precise. The reason those blocks were not visable on the pool's block list was a subtle change done to the process when submitting mined blocks. After the pool detects that a submitted share has hit the block target, the block gets submitted to the coin daemon. When this succeeds the block has been mined and the block reward is given to the submitter of the block - the pool. This worked fine. What went wrong is, that after submitting a block we also request the block's coinbase transaction hash from the daemon to track the confirmation progress. For some unknown reason this hash was not returned by the daemon for those last ten blocks. A coding error in the pool - introduced yesterday - caused the entire block to be regarded as orphaned because of the missing transaction hash and thus the block got not listed. It was simply forgotten. The code was reverted to the less strict block submission success check. Seven of the ten blocks have fully been paid already and the other three blocks are in their unlock stage.

My apologies for this mess!

Is there any interest in another Scrypt based pool here at Coin Foundry?

Sealtee 6 years ago updated by Muis 6 years ago 13

Is there any interest in another Scrypt based pool here at Coin Foundry? It seems that Verge is not a real good choice at this point because of all their recent issues and that leaves Litecoin as the only other Scrypt coin here. So what about DigiByte with the Scrypt algorithm? LiteCoin Plus? Some other somewhat "mainstream" Scrypt based coin? Is there interest? Is it possible?

Thanks!

Suggested additions to Pool Stats panel

SigG 6 years ago updated by anonymous 6 years ago 2

First time caller, big fan of the pool (clean, crisp, no fluff - great job!).

I'd love to see a few additions to the Pool Stats section of the coin page(s).

1) Estimated Avg. Time per Round How long, on average is the pool taking per block discovery round?

2) Time Since Last Block: Naturally can visit the Blocks tab and do the math, but should be a quick addition no?

3) Small, lightweight graph of trailing 24 hour: Each coin Pool Stats has a coin to fiat conversion, how about also small, clean trailing 24h graphs as well? Trading View has a charting API (unsure if it's free), or something similar: https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/MONAUSD/

Otherwise keep up the great work!

XVG pool not updating for a few hours

louis 6 years ago updated by Greg Zagorki 6 years ago 54

Greetings,

The XVG pool has not updated at all in the last few hours. However I see I am still mining at the stratum.

Is there anything wrong? My hashrates on the pool page show 0.

Thanks

Connection Refused

Matiev 6 years ago updated by Oliver 6 years ago 4

I keep getting bumped from the XVG Blake2s pool with "Connection Refused" errors while I can still see others connected in the pool.

Its disheartening to wake up and find my miners have been doing nothing for the past 6 hours.
