Does the ETC pool support static difficulty?

jo91 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 4

I started mining with my single GTX 1060 6GB in the ETC pool. After launching the miner, the pool slowly adjusts the difficulty from the initial 0.5 to 0.05 in a few minutes of time and all goes well. However, I had to restart the miner a couple of times due to minor issues on my end, thus I had to go once again from the initial 0.5 to 0.05, while more or less wasting a couple of minutes at difficulties (0.5 and 0.4) which my poor poor card doesn't produce any shares at. So, I thought I'd ask: does the ETC pool support static difficulty? If yes, what's the syntax - in ethminer launch parameters - for static difficulty?
Thank you for your attention!

Best regards,

Not at the moment unfortunately but I'll try to implement it today.

This is now implemented but has yet to be deployed as a pool restart will disconnect all miners for a fraction of a second. I'll probably pull the trigger tommorow morning.

The way it works is that miners (ab)use the pool login password to convey their difficulty preference. Example use a static difficulty of 0.05 you would use this as password in your miner configuration: d=0.05

Note: This also works for the Monero based pools (XMR, ETN).

Wonderful! Thank you again for your work!
