Future of the ZClassic (ZCL) Pool

Oliver 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 17

Since it is expected that ZCL will die after the soon to be happening de-facto rebranding of ZClassic to Bitcoin Private (BTCP), the current ZClassic Pool will be merged with the upcoming Bitcoin Private Pool (currently in Testnet-Beta). All unpaid shares of miners on the ZClassic Pool will be converted 1:1 to shares on the Bitcoin Private Pool after launch.

Update: Pool is up!

But who will be left to validate my Zclassic transfer back to exchange so I sell them after the fork?

Hopefully some of the miners will still be running ;)

Was it wrong to trade in my forked Bitcoin Cash for Zclassic to get forked Bitcoin Private? :(~~ i'll be lucky to get 20% back on Zclassic but hopefully BTCP will be worth more.

I do appreciate this, I was sad (and kinda expected), that the ZCL pool wouldn't find a block before the fork happened. How will the merge happen? Will the existing miners stop and need to connect to the BTCP pool with a new address?

Thanks for the info!

Yes exactly. The pool's already up in testmode. Once the BTCP mainnet goes live the pool will switch to it and we are good to go.

So to clarify, my 2.693M shares from ZClassic will count as shares for BTCP? Will those shares count and get paid for even if I don't mine on the BTCP pool? I wan't to make sure I'm able to get those shares if possible since its alot of shares.

Thanks

ZCL shares will simply be relabeled to belong to the BTCP pool. All current payment rules apply as if those shares had been mined directly at the pool. This includes the possibility of shares to get pushed out of the PPLNS windows by newer (mined) shares - depending on the length of the round toward the first BTCP block.

In anticipation of the impending launch (between 24-48h), the pool daemon has been switched from Testnet to Mainnet which means right now the pool is in a limbo state. It's up but you cannot start mining because the has no work to distribute. I've also reset the database of the btcp (testnet blocks and payments have been deleted).

Thanks for the updates Oliver!

Bitcoin Private Node is now synching up main net ...

Migration of ZCL to BTCP shares completed.

I see neither the full-node wallet nor the lightweight Electrum-derived wallet are ready on the GitHub repo of BTCP. Does it mean we still have to wait before beginning mining? I've seen this temporary wallet (http://wallet.btcprivate.pro/) offered by Altpool, but I don't think it's legit.

Looks like at the moment running a full node is the only way to have a wallet. I didn't say "functional wallet" because as of now mainnet sync is not working: https://github.com/BTCPrivate/BitcoinPrivate/issues/113
