Nothing earned after 10 hours of mining

Dave 6 years ago updated by Oliver 6 years ago 21

I was mining for 10 hours xvg, and i look at the address i see my power 120Gh/s who took my hashpower and get paid, the pool take and give me nothing?

The pool can only pay you from the blocks it finds. Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet for this young pool.

What are you talking about? Who took my profit then? You for sure. Mining for 10 hours at 120Gh/s shoukd make thousand of coins, now you took all these coins. Nice scam.

I'm talking about the pool not finding blocks during that period. Feel free to inspect the pool's wallet on the blockchain explorer. It's directly linked on every pool's page.

But how to get the shares for the time spent mining, i would have make at leas 500xvg with this power hash, now i moved to another pool, which pays every few minutes. But why you do not give me rewards right away? The pool got my power and no block found and no payment, sonclose this pool then better. Who will spend hours and get 0 rewards?

When the pool gets the reward it makes payments. The current mined block is not yet solved. If you move away and the time spent mining ON the pool is below some fraction, you'll get nothing. That's a protection against hopping between pools. This pool is young, therefore it has small amount of miners, therefore the time to solve the block is longer, but, in the end, the reward is higher than PPS pools, where you are paid in advance, before the block is solved, based on accepted shares, thus, the pool might be loosing coins with hopping miners like you. Of course, PPS pools have higher fees.

I have to correct myself here. Upon inspecting the logs I've discovered that both Verge pools actually found a couple blocks throughout the night which were rejected by the daemon. I've updated the pool code to prevent this from happening for future blocks. Verge is quite tricky as there's absolutely zero public examples of working code for this currency.

xvg2.log:[2018-02-18 10:50:22.7585] [W] [xvg2] [Bitcoin Job Manager] Block 1890032 submission failed with: Unable to sign block, wallet locked?

And no, the wallet was not locked.

Update: I'm pretty confident that the problem has been identified. The pool has mistaken the coin as a proof-of-work coin when in fact mining requires to pool to operate in proof-of-state / proof-of-work hybrid mode.

So you are saying that in the pool that I was mining basically by myself (XVG Lyra)....  there was a block or blocks found?   But you didn't have the pool set up correctly to receive the rewards?    :(

How am I supposed to have confidence to mine this pool?   The Lyra pool has 0 blocks found, and I don't even know if any of the blocks I find will actually be paid out.  Is it set up correctly now?  I have no idea over here.

I was excited that there is a new Lyra2rev2 pool.   But so far this is really bumming me out.  There have been issues with the dashboard, issues with shares that didn't update, and now the worst issue, unpaid "lost" blocks.

Lost blocks are not "nothing" to me, especially when I am mining by myself in there.  (one person is in there steady mining at a low rate)    There are not 9 people in that pool, like the front page of the website says.  Maybe 9 people mined in that pool at one time in the past without a block yet found.

Yes that's what I'm saying. Other pool ops might have decided to cover it up. I didn't.

When you have to work with a crypto-currency that has no working Testnet like Verge, things can go wrong in production. I spent the entire sunday working on fixing the problem and I'm confident I did. I understand that miners get pissed when something like this happens. Believe me so did I. If you have a Dash, LTC or ETH wallet, send your address to contact@coinfoundry.org and you'll receive some compensation for your wasted time.

Another block was found, and peoples were paid.   So it looks like the pool works now.

Hello ,

just found the pool few hours ago and want to say hello. I switch second currency to Verge with my 2 rigs and looking for a long term pool.

Did the pool found any blocks at all ?

Oliver can you add 3rd port to XVG for higher difficulty at 150 at least. thanks

Which of the XVG pools lyra or blake?

lyra so I can use nicehash with it, nicehash complaining saying that difficulty not high enough

After paying power for 10 rigs and spend all my rigs power on the XVG pool, and you say problem with XVG , it is a problem from this pool, and i recommend all people mining to compare with other pool , this pool pay nothing, and no one to message or talk about , no discord, so we have to spend hours , and who know surprise,

now the block i mined failed to get it to the pool, but if you fix it you will get the block i mined for 10 hours with 210Gh/s

and pay me my 10 hour sof 8 rigs pointed to your pool, and you keep convincing everyone here that it is hard to do XVG, go check other pool like antminepool with XVG same power i made 2500 coin in 1 day. here you make nothing , you take them all and day is XVG issue.

no?

A block was found since then and if you were still mining, you should have been paid for it. Also read few posts below where Oliver is asking you to send him your wallet address over email and he is willing to compensate for the not submitted  block.

As to "no one to message or talk to" - what is this forum, bots?

Dave, I understand you are upset, but you are taking it a bit overboard.Oliver has done everything right in handling this situation. He was open about the issue, instead of secretive and he offered a compensation.

Issues/bugs are common in development, and while you're saying you had no issue at the other pool, that does not mean that pool never had an issue before. Someone is always going to be burned because of an issue and if it is going to be
you, then be nice, accept it, raise the issue publicly and be thankful that there is someone on the other end responding to you and trying to resolve it.

ok, under the XVG you mention 1 block found:

when i go to check on the blockchain i get this Error! : Block not found: 1890557

https://verge-blockchain.info/block/1890557

and from your stats page under block

The verge-blockchain.info block explorer is unfortunatly quite limited. It's supposed to work with Block numbers when it in fact only works using block hash links. What works is entering the Block Number 1890557 into its search box.

ok found the block, now i see this address got the payment 21 hours ago, but you excluded me from it , because all what i mine was going to other block. fine

now if i mine , willl you give me the share of the new block? how can we know the reward?

Thanks.

I did not purposefully exclude anyone. Could I have the Verge address you've been mining with to take a look?
