Monero mining - xmr-stak, Vega 64

sam b 6 years ago updated by ste Peter 6 years ago 20

I can't seem to match the average hash rate of 1800h/s. What am I doing wrong? Out of the box, I got only 700h/s. I upped the intensity in xmr-stak and brought up the hashrate to 1200h/s.

What do i need to do to get the extra 600h/s?

I have a few more Vega64s coming in, and would be building a rig to mine monero on this pool.

Check bits be trippin on youtube he made a video of vega mining rig.

yes please let me know what you if you get that rate, i have 3x vega doing eth now, but i might switch over to monero soon.

i dunno, things are abit weird now. on XMR-stak it still shows hashrate of 1.2kh/s, but on poolimining stats, it's showing 24Kh/s.. WTF?

Can I have your address please?

my hashrate on poolmining is reporting as normal now.

I know but that still shouldn't happen.

please do let me know if i caused it to happen. This is my first attempt at mining.

Rest assured, that this is a display problem only which did not have and never will have any effect on your earnings whatsoever.

ok cool. I did not want to be banned/blocked/blacklisted for something I was totally clueless about

Don't worry. You did nothing wrong.

sam, you only getting 1.2Kh, i would like you should be able to get closer to 2k.

Terry: Sorry to interrupt but did you receive your coins now?

Check out this guide This Guide. I get just above 2000 H/s per card at about 200w per hour power.

That guide was great delone.

Far out so many "tweaks", so in summary here the stuff i found useful to get hashing up to 2000 H/s

1. Your monitor has to be on 100% of the time or you have to have an HDMI emulator/dongle (Kindda spaz but ok)

2. If using XMR-Stak you need to it to specify the use of two threads in the amd text file (but don't overkill on the intensity or you get screen artifacts)

3. Disable and re-enable vega 64 device each time you reboot (I'm still using the HBCC turn off / turn on trick but achieves the same thing)

4. Increase memory clock speed ( Mine was set to 945 Mhz, boosted it to 1100 Mhz)

4. Remove AMD drivers and install the blockchain specific version

I'll probably under-volt at some stage but want to see it run for one or two week before i do anymore

@Devon

Yeah lots of tweaks, but worth the extra hashes. For the monitor, you only need one attached if you only have the Vega(s) or other AMD cards as your only video out. I originally used an HDMI emulator so I didn't have to keep a monitor connected but I use the iGPU now (onboard graphics) which has a DVI connector.

Once your current setup has bedded in and you are comfortable with it (good approach BTW, wish I'd done that ;-) ), you should definitely look into the under volting. I'm saving about 30% on the number of watts used with little impact on hashes.

oliver: i havent received any coins yet...  but i think we waiting for a block to be found.

delone thanks for the guide, very useful

whats your hashrate at?

fyi i never got above 1.2kh/s with xmr-stak, but I'm almost at 2kh/s per card using cast xmr. I gave up trying to tune and troubleshoot  xmr-stak. It might be worth a switch f any1 else is facing the same problems.
