2700+ Vertcoin shares and still no balance? Is something wrong?

I'm up to over 2700+ shares and yet still no pending balance. Are we just waiting on another block or is it just taking THAT long to mine the block that the shares are coming from?

The shares aren't coming from the block. Shares represent your contribution to the mining effort towards the next block. With a non PPS Payout System, shares only convert to currency when a block is found and each miner gets paid according to this contribution to the block based on his submitted shares. There's a FAQ with more details. I totally agree that we are on a particular nasty long round on that pool. :-(

It seems like Monacoin pool is having the same issue. I've been mining 19 hours and my balance hasn't changed. Should I be switching pools? Will I be compensated for running my rigs?

There wasn't a block found for half a day, you are on a small pool, take the variance into account. It evens out in a longer time frame.

Is there a larger pool for monacoin?

Would'nt it make more sense to be in a bigger pool? The time you're not mining can be made up in a bigger pool. Slow and steady wins the race applies here?

Guys we mine for up to 4 and sometimes 5 weeks before getting full block rewards on the Ethereum pool. So long as I'm getting my shares I am happy because I know that in this poolmining.org PPLNS payout system my long term devotion to the pool guarantees generous rewards. That being said block rewards will be much more common/frequent once this pool gains more momentum. And it is gaining momentum, miners are coming on board every day, so, hang in there and thank yourselves later.
