ETH Pool Finally Landed Blocks!

cazter 6 years ago updated by happyserendipity 6 years ago 34

Boom! https://poolmining.org/pool/eth

2 blocks! Our minuscule combined hashrate scored 2 blocks! Insane.

Anyways I see the pool wallet is still holding 2.31 eth? I'm somewhat new to the pool but I represent about 1/3 the hashrate (350-400MH) or 123176 shares- I received slightly less then 1/6 of the reward. Are there additional dispensation forthcoming?

Yeah, the optimization to pool code and infrastructure over the past weeks finally begin to pay off.

The rest of the ether in the wallet does not belong to the pool. It's the accumulated amount of balances below the payout limit.

And I was on vacation, not mining for about a week. Still got a reward, I guess I consider myself lucky for my shares to  be included in the n-last. :) Hopping back on later tonight when I switch my PC on.

Congrats!!!

Welcome back. Hope you had a great vacation :-)

Are you under a DDOS? I can't connect to the pool properly. Log:

Nope. Shares coming in and I've just tested it using my own rig.

Any idea on how to debug my issue? Basically it takes very long time to receive a job since subscribing to the stratum server upon a connection, and then I just can't submit any solution as it says I am not connected. No changes were done to my bat file.

Hmm. There is a way but it requires a pool restart since it is currently not logging debug output. I guess we could do that but I would need your current IP to find out what's wrong.

Where can I PM you my IP? I don't want you force the restart just for my sake, it might not make some people happy, though I think most should auto-reconnect after I guess.

The restart only takes one second. Mail your IP to info@poolmining.org

sent from a throwaway account

Ok please retry.

Done. Still same issue.

No issues on my end.

Weird. I see you connecting and then the server receives an EOF. Connection gracefully terminated by client.

Yeah, I am not terminating anything myself, it just keeps saying "CUDA0     Can't submit solution: Not connected" . I quickly tested two other pools, both are working fine for me.

I tested claymore instead of ethminer, and that one works. So whatever updates you did over the week might have made your pool not work with ethminer. Anyone else mining through ethminer ?

Try again with claymore. I bet it works now.

To clarify. It's ethminer that's not working for me. Claymore works.

Could you try ethminer once more?

Tried, still the same issue. I am suspecting it might be something local, even-though ethminer works for me with other pools. Will try some debugging and forum research. Either way, could someone test ethminer with this pool and see if they're getting through?

Switching to Claymore for now to get some shares in. I would appreciate if someone could test ethminer and see if they are getting it to work with poolmining.org . The bat file I used previously that worked had the following:
ethminer --farm-recheck 2000 -U -SP 2 -S eth.poolmining.org:3072 -O wallet.worker

Already working on it.

Which version of ethminer was that again?

The latest one ethminer 0.12.0 . I'm on Windows 10.

Just joined this pool, bringing roughly ~115-120 MH/s! Just curious, I came from dwarfpool where they did auto payouts from whatever amount you specified, how do payouts here work? Seeing as this is a newer pool when are the payouts and if auto payout, at what amount is the minimum?

The minimum payout is 0.01Eth as you can see in the pool stats. It is payed out automatically when you reach that threshold.

Thanks. One more thing, I was easily mining ~0.015ETH - ~0.02ETH daily on Dwarf. Looking at this, how come my balance is still showing 0ETH? Are autopayouts only happening and bursting when a block(s) are found? In a scenario where pool hashrate stays at 1.2 Gh/s and my hashrate is consistent 115-120MH/s, we find 1 block, would that equate to ~10% of the reward for that block being paid out for me?

~10% would make sense in a PPS (pay per share) model, but this is PPLNS (pay per las N shares), so that 10% is not necessarily guaranteed, but over a long period of time yes, you would average at aroudn this. See the FAQ , it explains PPLNS and what factors in. As to why you are still at 0 ETH - simple, no blocks were found by this pool while you are in with us. At Dwarfpool you would be getting daily rewards because that pool is large and finds plenty of blocks in a day. Here, with a low hash rate, we have a high variance, meaning we can go even weeks without finding a block or we can find two in a day like it happened earlier this week. When we do find a block however, do expect a significantly larger payout per block than at Dwarfool. I am a small miner, just 30Mh/s and I got >0.1Eth in that single day when we hit the 2 blocks - it would roughly equate to my contribution. I was lucky though that this is PPLNS, since I wasn't around mining for the 2nd block and still got a payout as the shares from the first block were also included in due to the short period between the two.  PPLNS is rewarding for loyalty, but also gives you a chance to get a reward if you are temporarily not mining and miss being around when the block is found.

Highly appreciate the explanation on this one! I'll stick around and see what happens. If all goes well, I'll tell a few of my other miner friends to join in since we're testing a bunch of smaller pools right now :)

Thanks happyserendipity for the thorough explanation. Couldn't have done it any better.

So far I'm loving the response time of support on this site, a little goes a long way!

So with the launch of Cryptokitties, there's lot of money in transaction fees. Comon guys, let's land another block! :)
