Miner Keeps Detecting New Work

Brian 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 4

I'm mining in the zec pool and my miner only reports that it is detecting new work and increments its counter.  It will occasionally submit a share before the work counter increments again.  Tried mining on both 3036 and 3037 with little change in the number of submitted shares.  I was wondering if this is normal?  I'm using EWBF 3.4 and mining with a 1080ti and a 1070ti.

That's perfectly ok. It means that the pool has detected a new block on the blockchain and instructs all miners to switch work to the new block.

So seeing the miner receive new work several times before actually submitting a share is normal?  On flypool my gpus will usually submit a few shares before they receive new work.  Also which port would you recommend for a rig with 2x 1080ti and 1x 1070ti on your zec pool?

Some pools such as ours periodically repeat the current job with the "restart work flag" set to 0 as a keepalive signal to the miners. As for the stratum port it really doesn't matter that much because vardiff is active on all ports and will gradually adjust the difficulty of for your rig until a healthy value is found and maintained.

Good to know.  I'll point my gpus back at your pool later this evening.  It was just unnerving to see the miner restart work more often than submit shares.  Thanks for the support!
