dstm no longer solving ZEC

Marvin Parsons 6 years ago updated by Oliver 6 years ago 9

I have it on my computer and a 3 card rig.

It was working fine on both but I think something may mess up on the server end if you restart the miner or if it has to restart because it started only sometimes working on the rig a couple of days ago while still working fine on my computer until just a bit ago when I decided to close it on my computer to see if that would allow it to work correctly on the rig. It didn't and now its doing the same thing on the computer.

Ok...It just started working fine again on my computer but it still only intermittently works on the rig.

Hmm, I honestly have no idea what could be causing this. Did you try another pool to verify it's something on your end?

I can use other mining software on that system with no issues. XMR-Stak works fine for monero and I'm able to mine ZEC on another site with EWBF.

Its starting to look more and more like this particular software just doesn't get along with either the hardware or perhaps the firewall even though disabling that didn't make it better.

I've reinstalled DSTM with no improvement.

Is there any chance your servers support anything other than DSTM for ZEC with Nvidia and Windows?

Marvin, the pool should work with any ZCash miner, not just the ones listed on the pool page.

Ok...I'm resetting the rig to factory and reinstalling the miners. XMR-Stak still works fine but now any equihash miners gives me an error that the executable is corrupted. Maybe hard drive, may be CPU or memory failure but I'll run diagnostics and post here what the issue is after.

You wouldn't happen to know if DSTM and EWBF use the same memory addresses do you?

Nobody would know that. Especially with ASLR being used by most current operating systems.

No hardware issues. After resetting the rig back to factory I had to install a few DLL's to get the miners going.

DSTM still only intermittently manages to return solutions but EWBF works fine.

And XMR_Stak works fine still as well.

I would prefer that DSTM worked of course. It seems to be miles beyond EWBF in Sols/s.

And DSTM still works perfectly fine on my computer.

Ok...Out of curiosity I changed the port from 3039 which is the suggestion for multicard rigs to 3038 and it seems to be working fine right now. Its maintained decent speed for awhile now. Maybe an issue with the port or maybe just that my rig was too small? I'm not really sure what the significance of different ports speedwise would be.

The difference is the default difficulty assigned to your miners. Which is about 10 times higher on 3039. This might give the impression that the miner is broken, while in reality it is working fine on a too high diff. Damn I should have spotted this earlier reading your post.
